Prešov, 11. April 2025 – The center of our beautiful Strawberry City was once again alive with colors, laughter, and the scent of strawberries. The popular event, Painted Strawberries, once again brought joy, creativity, and delicious experiences for young and old on Friday afternoons. Its second year was possible thanks to cooperation with the Novum shopping center.
After 3 p.m., the Novum premises were filled with children, parents, and grandparents from all over Prešov, the surrounding area, and even from nearby Košice. Visitors were welcomed by a friendly atmosphere and diverse activities that had a common goal – to brighten up Friday with colors and support family moments together in Strawberry City.
Children could choose from a variety of coloring books with motifs of historical monuments of Prešov in the style of the Strawberry City, as well as themed Easter pictures. The result was dozens of original works, for which the little artists received a sweet reward – a strawberry shortcake and refreshing strawberry juice.
The joy of creation was further enhanced by the opportunity to take a photo with your artwork in front of the iconic strawberry photo wall. Thanks to our partner Fotolab Cewe, the children were able to take home a printed photo as a nice souvenir of the day. Other competition prizes were provided by our partners – McDonald’s with vouchers for a drink or sweet treat and the Minit bakery, which donated fresh strawberry pastries. All of these partners helped create an experience that was not only visually appealing, but also delicious.
A cheerful mood prevailed at Novum, with familiar children’s songs playing, to which some daredevils even danced. The popular face painting activity, provided by the wonderful, talented Ivka from FacePainting Prešov, was also a great success. And so, at the Painted Strawberries event, forest fairies, butterflies, Spidermans, and characters from Minecraft appeared.
“Our goal is not only to commemorate the interesting history of the city of Prešov through the legend of strawberries, but also to build a strong community and create a space for meeting, creating, and experiencing joy together,” says the author of the Strawberry City project, Marián Beliš. “Painted Strawberries is one of those events where we manage to fulfill it – thanks to partners, volunteers and all the families who came, thank you.”
Thanks to the cordial cooperation with the Novum shopping center, involved partners, and the support of visitors, we managed to create another beautiful milestone on the path of the Strawberry City – colorful, fragrant, and full of smiles. We are already looking forward to the next year of this sweet spring event, which is becoming a nice tradition for Prešov families.
During a casual walk through the city, we often overlook the gems that surround us. However, Prešov is rich in diverse sculptures, reliefs, and artworks in public spaces. We have prepared a basic overview of the most significant ones so that you can appreciate this beauty whenever you have more time.
This is how we envision life in Presov. Strawberry City brings energy, flavor, refreshment, joy, and dynamism to the city. The event, Strawberry Night, was exactly about that and was appreciated by thousands of visitors.
