On Sunday, April 28, the first World Championship for the best strawberry pie took place in a beautiful social hall in Prešov. 25 skilled confectioners and their cakes were evaluated by a jury headed by the winner of the 3rd series of the television show Bake the Whole Slovakia, which is Timi Strnálová. The first three places were awarded with a financial reward, but mainly with hand-made glass trophies. The hall filled with spectators could also enjoy the performance of the folklore group Šarišan.
We were pleasantly surprised by the participation and interest in this competition, we were even more pleased with the quality of the presented cakes. Some looked like works of art, all tasted great. We would like to thank everyone who found the courage to enter the competition. Behind each cake was a lot of work, art, experience, creativity.

2. Appearance of the cake
3. The taste of cake
Cakes were evaluated by a jury composed of:
Timi Strnál – winner of the 3rd series of the television show Bake the Whole Slovakia
Maroš Turek – Director of the Slovak Opal Mines
Marián Beliš – author of the identity Prešov – Strawberry city
Something about the contestants:
– a total of 25 participants who brought 29 types of cakes were evaluated
– participants were from the following countries: Slovakia, Czech Republic, Armenia, Ukraine, Italy
– only one guy entered the competition – and he did not disappoint
Evaluation of the competition:
1st place: Jana Simová, Slovakia, a cake called Strawberry
2nd place: Anush Tomashko, Armenia, a cake called Moreni
3rd place: Maria Konoplova, Ukraine, a cake called Strawberry from the heart
