An exceptional ascent to the most beautiful view of the city of Prešov.

The Prešov Calvary dates back to the first half of the 18th century and is a magnificent complex of Baroque chapels and a church that was once considered the second most beautiful calvary in the territory of Hungary. It was established by the Jesuits during the period of re-Catholicization and consists of the Church of the Holy Cross, fourteen chapels of the Stations of the Cross, the Chapel of the Holy Steps, catacombs, and an adjacent cemetery.

The path to the calvary is captivating and, thanks to the diverse nature, also relaxing. Each chapel is adorned with ornaments, coats of arms, and a semi-circular vaulted entrance portal. The Baroque Church of the Holy Cross boasts interesting wall paintings by the Prešov painter Ondrej Trtina. Above the altar, there are three crosses and statues of the Virgin Mary, Mary Magdalene, and St. John the Apostle.

Visitors can enjoy a view of the beautiful city of Prešov from the calvary. The cemetery is also interesting, with several artistically valuable noble and bourgeois crypts in the Empire and Historicism styles.
