A place full of art and culture of the past and present

The Prešov Regional Gallery is one of the oldest regional galleries in Slovakia and was founded in 1956. Currently, the gallery owns over 4,200 paintings, drawings, sculptures, and graphics from the 15th to the 20th century. It focuses mainly on the art of northeastern Slovakia but also explores and professionally presents the work of artists from the entire eastern region of Slovakia.

The gallery develops diverse exhibition and cultural-educational activities. It exhibits not only the works of professional artists but also the works of students from art schools. The permanent exhibition of the Regional Gallery is the Sacred Art of the 15th-19th enturies, which primarily consists of polychrome woodcarvings presenting the sacred works of four Christian denominations that have left their marks in the region’s visual arts: Roman Catholic, Greek Catholic, Orthodox, and Evangelical.

The permanent exhibition of the Regional Gallery is accessible to citizens with disabilities, and textual information is available in Slovak and English. In addition to art exhibitions, the gallery also organizes various concerts, quiz afternoons for parents with children, book presentations, author talks, workshops, and programs for people with disabilities.
